I’m an Environmental Futurist and Social Scientist, retired from the Strategic Foresight Group of the Northern Research Station, USDA Forest Service. I’m also an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota where I teach an Honors Seminar on environmental futures.

My research, writing, teaching, and public speaking focus on using the principles and methods of Futures Research (also called Strategic Foresight) to explore possible, plausible, and preferable futures of natural resources and people. The goal is to develop foresight — insight into how and why the future could be different — to improve planning and decision making today.
