The working group has produced an Executive Summary that articulates the compelling scientific questions that require drilling or coring and details the resources needed to address these questions. Use the button below to access the page and comment on this content using the public discussion forum at the bottom of the linked page.
The working group categories and their descriptions have been initially defined through discussion among past science planning participants, CSD Facility Committee members, and facility staff. Participants in each working group may collectively decide to modify category titles or descriptions, form subgroups, and/or make other changes needed to reflect their disciplines.
Research focusing on the environment from bedrock to treetops, where rock, soil, water, air, and living organisms interact and shape the Earth's surface.
Identify and articulate the compelling scientific questions in your discipline that require drilling or coring
Summarize projects that would yield answers to these questions
Detail the resources needed (funds, equipment, instrumentation, cyberinfrastructure, and others) to implement the anticipated projects
Your role in this working group is to work jointly with colleagues to develop this vision, with the primary output to be a short manuscript for submission to a journal to be defined by your working group.Â
