Renee Roberts is a PharmD graduate of the class of 2023 at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. She grew up in Saskatchewan, Canada, and proudly represents Sturgeon Lake First Nation. Her passions lie in improving health outcomes for minority populations and increasing diversity in health professions.
Heather Maracle Fahey (PharmD class of 2009) is a board certified clinical pharmacist with M Health Fairview. Heather serves as a preceptor and mentor, with special interest in supporting Indigenous students and students of color. She is currently involved in collaborative efforts with the School of Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, and Vet Medicine to create space and support for all Indigenous health professional students. Heather serves on several system-wide diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, including developing M Health Fairview's first Land Acknowledgement, building relationship within the local Native community, and creating cultural awareness within her department and across Fairview Pharmacy Services. Additionally, Heather is the acting secretary on the Board of Directors for Indian Health Board Clinic in Minneapolis.
Heather is Mohawk, from Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory in southern Ontario. She is the first pharmacist in her family.
The purpose of the American Indian Affinity Group is to create a sacred and supportive space that centers and uplifts Indigenous experiences. We aim to shine a light on Indigenous excellence and wisdom, as it pertains to the healing arts. We partner with students, faculty, and alumni across our health professional programs for connection, collegiality, and culturally relevant programming.
