Dr. Chen is Director of Neuropathology & IHC Laboratory, University of Minnesota Medical School. He received an MD from Shandon University, China, and a PhD from the University of Alberta, Canada. He completed residency and fellowship training at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Chen is board certified in Anatomic Pathology, Neuropathology and Molecular Genetic Pathology.
Dr. Chen's research is focused on cellular and molecular mechanisms, diagnosis and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, nervous system neoplasms and traumatic brain injury. He is interested in understanding the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative disorders, developing diagnostic markers and validating therapeutic targets. The laboratory uses an interdisciplinary approach involving Drosophila model, rodent model, iPS cells and postmortem human brain tissue to study the mechanisms underlying neurodegeneration in the central nervous system.
