Dr. Chen's research aims to elucidate the pathogenesis of major neurodegenerative disorders, identify diagnostic biomarkers, and validate potential therapeutic targets. Currently, the lab is actively investigating the link between Alzheimer's disease and periodontal disease. In addition, Dr. Chen's lab is examining the role of TDP-43 in traumatic brain injury/chronic traumatic encepholopathy and the prion-like spreading of alpha-synuclein from peripheral organs to the brain.
