A collaboration between Charosa and TeslaWorks, our project seeks to design a bioreactor to culture bioluminescent bacteria. To date, two prototypes have been built, with the final design/production of the bioreactor ongoing.

This project started with the aim of creating a low-cost device designed to diagnose certain types of cancer, particularly ovarian. Thus far, the processes that the device must accomplish have been laid out, and several possible analysis techniques have been investigated. While a background in biology is not necessary on the front end, knowledge in this area is important for appropriate analysis. On the design-side of things, the working process needs to be translated to a mechanical design. This will be followed by the creation of a CAD model, likely using Creo/Autodesk software.
