The University of Minnesota received an $18.8M grant from the Helmsley Charitable Trust to fund the Minnesota AED Project. The Minnesota AED Project was designed to provide AEDs across the state of Minnesota to law enforcement agencies and first responders, aiming to increase cardiac arrest. The Minnesota AED Recycle/Reuse program's mission was to distribute all usable AEDs to community locations. Since the launch of the project in 2022, the program has fulfilled its mission in distributing all usable AEDs to community locations. Each AED was checked and updated before placement.
