A-Gallbladder Removal Device
This is the overall proposed device.
B-Outer Shaft
The outer shaft is the portion of the device that is close to the trochar and encloses all of the other device aspects before deployment.
C-Inner Shaft
The inner shaft encloses the funnel, suture loop and the retrieval bag before deployment and slides in and out of the outer shaft during deployment.
D-Stabilization Handle
The stabilization handle is attached to the outer shaft for the surgeon to hold on to the device throughout the procedure.
E-Deployment Handle
The deployment handle is attached to the inner shaft and is used to deploy and retract the inner shaft.
F-Funnel
The funnel is deployed and then used to retrieve the bag through.
G-Funnel Ring
The funnel ring is used to pull on the funnel to retract it once the gallbladder is within it. There is a string that connects the funnel ring to the funnel itself.
H-Suture Loop
The suture loop is used to grasp the cystic duct attached to the gallbladder.
I-Suture Loop Ring
The suture loop ring is pulled on in order to tighten the suture loop around the cystic duct. This is attached to the suture loop by a string.
J-Retrieval Bag
The retrieval bag is what the gallbladder is placed into during the procedure and encloses the gallbladder throughout the removal process.
K-Retrieval Bag Ring
The retrieval bag ring is used to pull the retrieval bag up and into the funnel and out of the body. The retrieval bag ring is connected to the retrieval bag with a string.
