Biography: Dr. Narender Kumar is Professor at Centre for Political Studies, School of Social Sciences,

Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He was Chairperson of the Centre during 2021-23.

He has 24 years of teaching and research experience in various Central Universities including

University of Delhi, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar

University, Lucknow. Professor Kumar has eight books to his credit, published by Oxford

University Press, Routledge, Orient Blackswan and others. He has published several research

papers in national and international journals. Professor Kumar is reviewer of manuscripts for

Oxford University Press, Routledge, Springer, etc. and for various international journals.

Among his works, he edited a volume on Ambedkar and Democracy with Christophe Jaffrelot

on Dr. Ambedkar and Democracy published in 2018 by Oxford University Press. Recently a

book titled “Reservation Policy in India: State, Social Justice and Affirmative Action” has been

published. He has visited US, UK, France, etc. for academic engagements.
