Biography: Monyque Assis Suzano (she/her) is a Brazilian scholar pursuing her PhD in Literacy Education at the University of Minnesota. She holds a Licentiate Degree in English Language and Literature (2017) and an MA in Linguistics (2019) from the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES, Brazil). With nine years of experience in education, translation, and grassroots organizing, her research explores oralitura, culturally sustaining pedagogies, testimonio, racial literacies, youth organizing, and translation studies.

Alongside her academic work, Monyque is an independent translator and interpreter (Portuguese–English), collaborating on projects centered on Indigenous and Quilombola epistemologies, oral traditions, and Black cultural production in Brazil. She has translated books, exhibition catalogs, films, and other cultural and academic works, seeking to expand access to historically marginalized knowledges across languages.
