Biography: Moenieba Isaacs is a Professor with the Institute for Poverty, Land and Agrarian Studies (PLAAS) at the University of Western Cape. Her research areas focus is on integrating biodiversity to social, spatial and blue injustices. She grounds the concepts on justice in using slow methodologies in communities living in or adjacent to rich biodiversity areas such as strandveld fynbos, cultural heritage, wetland and marine biomes.  She has worked extensively with communities, CBOs and NGOs in Southern Africa and internationally.  She is an engaged and reflective scholar and always working on finding creative ways to engage with social processes, decision making and policymaking in the context of diverse civil society interests. She has published extensively in high impact journals and peer reviewed book chapters. She leads research on Biodiversity and Inequality in South Africa,  she academic coordinator, she coordinates short courses to land, climate change and social justice in biodiversity conservation for land, climate and conservation professionals across Africa, she co-lead PLAAS in the technical node for Network of Excellence in Land Governance for Africa (NELGA).
