Biography: Dr. Mala Mukherjee is Director of the Indian Institute of Dalit Studies (IIDS), New Delhi. She holds a Ph.D. in Geography from Jawaharlal Nehru University, where her research examined deprivation and spatial vulnerabilities in low-income neighborhoods of Kolkata. Her research focuses on urban

inequality, caste and gender intersectionality, migration, digital inequality, urban planning, and slum

studies. She has led and contributed to research projects supported by the Indian Council of Social

Science Research, the National Commission for Women, and various state governments. Her work has

been published in The Lancet, Journal of Social Inclusion Studies, and Gender Forum, as well as in

edited volumes published by Springer, Routledge, and Oxford University Press. She has presented her

research at international conferences across Europe and Asia and was selected as a UN delegate to the

Global Sustainable Development Report workshop in Jakarta in 2019.
