Bio: Katherine Tazin is a recent graduate of the Red Wing High School class of 2026. During high school, she acted as the co-founder and vice president of the Hispanic Students United Club, promoting Hispanic culture through events like assemblies, booths, and family fun days that educated and engaged the broader community. Additionally, Katherine has served as a teacher’s aide for four years at the local non-profit Hispanic Outreach of Goodhue County, ensuring that Hispanic and immigrant children feel cared for, safe, and equal. Through this role, Katherine has formed and fostered meaningful relationships with students, worked effectively with other teachers and aides, and strengthened her commitment to a more inclusive community. For two years, she has worked as a Community Youth Council Member at another local non-profit, RiseUp Partnership. There, she has continued strengthening her skills in advocacy, community engagement, communication, collaboration, and leadership through opportunities like presenting and attending educational conferences, meeting with state representatives, and supporting community initiatives. This fall, Katherine will attend Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, as a Bonner Scholar while pursuing the pre-law track with the goal of a career in immigration law. She looks forward to continuing her commitment to service in advocacy, equity, and inclusivity as she begins college and works toward a future advocating for immigrant communities.
