Biography: Emma Corrie is the President and CEO of Twin Cities R!SE (TCR), a nonprofit rooted in North Minneapolis, transforming the lives of those impacted by racial or socio-economic barriers through personal empowerment, career training and meaningful employment. TCR walks the journey with our R!SERS (participants) in breaking the cycle of generational poverty towards financial independence. Emma is passionate about addressing barriers to success and providing access to those traditionally underserved. She has helped hundreds of Minnesotans secure stable, family sustaining wage jobs. Her work to change institutional structures and defy gender and racial glass ceilings is making a real impact, enabling career success for those unemployed or underemployed. In her previous 24-year career in state government she served in many leadership roles from Director of Driver & Vehicle Services to Director of Strategic Workforce Initiatives in the Governor’s Office. Her leadership and direct advocacy provided second chances and impacted hiring practices & background check policies across various state agencies. Emma has a master’s degree in business. She co-authored 'Learning Circles: A Handbook for Preschools in India,' published by Macmillan India Publishers. Born and raised in India by a single mother who instilled in her seven children the values of faith, family, and community, Emma now resides in Saint Paul with her husband, Bruce, and their two children, Cristina and Sean.
