Lightning Round I: Studies in Inequality from Social, Health, Spatial & Financial Perspectives
Abstract: In the 21st century, leadership is increasingly shaped by youth voice and agency in technology-rich environments. In my study, I examine how 9th grade students from diverse and historically underrepresented backgrounds engage with and influence technology leadership in their schools. Grounded in the STPACK framework, I position students as active contributors rather than passive recipients. Using Photovoice methodology, as developed by Caroline C. Wang and extended in practice by Nisha Botchwey, students document their lived experiences through images and reflection. Findings reveal gaps between access and meaningful use, highlighting the need for inclusive, responsive leadership. My study reframes youth leadership as participatory and equity-centered.
