Biography: Caleb Masi is a Kenyan-born African American and dual citizen of Kenya and the United States. He is an undergraduate at the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management, pursuing a B.S.B. in Finance and Risk Management Insurance with minors in Business Law and the Sociology of Law, Criminology, and Justice. He is on track to graduate early in December 2026. Caleb serves as one of eight Student Representatives to the University of Minnesota Board of Regents and is a John Parsinen Memorial Scholar in Business Law. His interests sit at the intersection of law, public policy, human rights, technology, and international development. He currently works as a Research Intern with the University of Minnesota Law School’s Human Rights Center and as a Research Assistant in Carlson’s Work and Organizations Department. His experience includes engagement with UN mechanisms, NGOs, civil society organizations, and human rights advocates, as well as research on environmental rights, digital governance, and organizational belonging. He recently completed a faculty-led study program in China with Peking University, Tongji University, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences, examining urban planning and redevelopment across several cities. He has also been accepted to present two papers at the 2026 EISA Pan-European Conference on International Relations. His long-term goal is to pursue a JD/PhD focused on socio-legal studies, jurisprudence, and social policy.
