About the Journal

Welcome to the Faculty of Architecture and Ekistic, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK). The newly launched journal Bachok International Journal of Architecture and Ekistics (BIJAE) is the first an international open-access journal researched by peer-review, dedicated to publishing articles focusing on the built-environment in UMK.

BIJAHS publishes articles related to all issues focusing on architecture, human settlements and urbanism. This journal focuses on the latest research on problems currently being experienced by the global world. In this issue, readers will find various groups of manuscripts. It is the result of a collection of papers consisting of scholars, practitioners and industry players.

This is indeed an exciting time for the Architecture Department, Faculty of Architecture and Ekistics. Our journal will allow for the publication of manuscripts immediately after rigorous peer review, free of charge to authors with open access, facilitating widespread dissemination and impact in the field. Future special issues may include the focus of the world of architecture and ekistics as well as reviews and editorials by figures in the area. We hope to help advance the field of architecture, human settlement and urbanism research by providing major media for publication.

Submissions

Submission of new manuscripts to Bachok International Journal of Architecture and Ekistics (BIJAE) must be made only electronically after registration on the website of the Faculty of Architecture and Ekistic. Authors can then track the latest status of their manuscript and upload or resubmit the required documents. The entire review and communication process between the Reviewer and the Author is done through a journal management system. Finally, the journal will be bound for future reference under the publication of Universiti Malaysia Kelantan.

Upon receiving a new submission, the editor-in-chief will be notified by the journal management system. An author will briefly review the manuscript to verify its accordance with the journal's policies such as our scope and style guidelines, or he may assign editors to handle the new submission. Sometimes, an original manuscript is rejected without being referred to the reviewers for peer-review due to reasons such as redundancy with recently published material in the journal or insufficient overall quality for further attention.

Upon receipt of the new submission, the Editor-in-Chief will be notified by the journal management system. An author will briefly review the manuscript to confirm its suitability.

After the manuscript goes through the initial screening, the manuscript will be stripped of all identifying information. It will be sent to several reviewers available with their respective expertise. The manuscript will go through up to at least three reviewers. One of them is a member of the Editorial Board. Upon completion of adapting the manuscript, comments will be sent through the journal management system.

Authors may be asked to revise their manuscripts to answer issues raised by Editors and Reviewers. The manuscript will be sent back through the system by the Author. The revised manuscript will then go through a review, if necessary. This process continues until the final decision on whether to accept or reject the manuscript. If the manuscript is accepted, the Author will be asked to complete and sign the Copyright Transfer Agreement. Manuscripts received will not be published unless all required documents have been submitted. Rejected manuscripts will no longer be considered.
