The experiment phase of the course helps explore different genres in which you want to convert the original piece selected. I decided that I wanted to attempt an infographic and podcast to enhance my knowledge of the news and how I could better answer my ultimate question.
Below are each of the two experiments:
My first experiment was both an experiment to accomplish preliminary research as well as explore a more visual genre. I did initial research to better understand the changing trend of the news under the categories of format of consumption, use of social media, and what is the most used today by certain demographics. The rough draft of my infographic is below and although I never completed it, the research and information I learned in this experiment helped inform my decisions for projects later in th course.

For my second experiment, I made a rough outline of an interview-style podcast that would use the knowledge of other people to expand upon what I talked about in my previous projects. I ended up interviewing a professor at the University of Michigan to both compete for part of the podcast but also to expand my knowledge for my fully realized project. By including the professional opinions and research conducted by a professor, the podcast and my individual research included information that I could use in both the podcast experiment and the fully realized project. I attached my script ideas as well as a transcript of the interview I conducted with a professor and eventually used as evidence in my fully realized project brochure.
