This group focuses on how to make work benefit all employees by stabilizing earnings, increasing wages, improving working conditions, and equalizing paid time off for health and caregiving. We will also attend to how social and tax policy interact with and affect paid employment. Strategies to be explored include guaranteed basic income, paid family leave, minimum wage, youth employment, child allowances, and others.
This group will identify, describe, analyze and suggest improvements to programs that are successfully “moving the needle” on these tasks. Group members willengage in research and writing, support social media, develop educational materials, and encourage political action in these arenas.
This group will have an emphasis on policies and practices that address gross inequities in access to wealth and asset- building resources. This will mean allocating resources across the full economic spectrum including to the young and marginalized communities as well as discontinuing tax policies that encourage growing inequities. Strategies will include child development accounts, revisions to tax policies that support investment among lower income groups.
This group will identify, describe, analyze and suggest improvements to programs that are successful in changing the distribution of economic assets and balance sheets in the United States as well as reducing predatory practices.
