Alternative Breaks

School of Information students Neha Bhomia and Chloe Canon spent their 2019 spring break using information skills to help a local organization. The students volunteered at Ponyride, a Detroit-based organization that offers low-cost space to socially conscious artists, entrepreneurs, innovators and manufacturers, allowing them to nurture and grow their work.

Design Jams

The Engaged Learning Office and Career Development Office host Design Jams throughout the year. Design Jams allow students to work on problems for real-world clients, ranging from non-profits to Fortune 500 companies. As a team, students address a problem provided by the client. They brainstorm ideas, create a visual prototype and present their work to the client.
