Who can participate?

To be in the study, participants must currently received the Shingrix vaccine, and must have been diagnosed with shingles or experiencing an active flare at the time of study participation.

Participants must be 50 years of age or older.

What do I have to do to participate in this study?

Participation involves a blood draw that will collect approximately six (6) teaspoons of blood. Information about your medical history may also be collected and shared with the research team.

Will I get paid for this study?

Participants will be compensated with gift cards totaling $100.00 at the end of the study.

Why are you studying? 

Researchers want to study a component of your blood to better understand ways to prevent and better treat Shingles. Besides your blood donation, your healthcare provider will ask you some questions about your health history such as recent vaccines and also treatments used to treat your current Shingles outbreak. This information will help researchers understand how your body is interacting with the virus that causes Shingles.

Can I do this study at home?

How long is the study?

The study involves one visit (you'll need to go to an Ann Arbor MLab location for a blood draw) that should take about 30 minutes per participant.

Where is the study?
