Focus/Mission: Basement Arts is a student theatre group housed within and subsidized by the University of Michigan Department of Theatre and Drama. Our goal is to produce high-quality, free theatre for the U-M and Ann Arbor communities. We strive to present not only plays but all types of performances free of charge. Basement Arts is student-run theatre organization that has given the University of Michigan and the Ann Arbor community FREE theatre for over 20 years! Focus/Mission: EnspiRED hosts a variety of events throughout the year that aim to raise arts awareness on campus. We serve as an advocate of the arts through several outlets including but not limited to singing, dancing, painting and so much more. Our biggest event each year is our annual charity fashion show.

Focus/Mission: MUSKET is the largest and oldest student-run musical theatre company on the University of Michigan's campus. Whether it be as an actor on stage, a crew member behind the scenes, or an audience member in the distinguished Power Center venue, there are many opportunities for University of Michigan students to become involved. Each year, MUSKET presents two musical productions: one in the fall semester and one in the winter semester.

Focus/Mission: Rude Mechanicals is the only student-run theatre organization on the University of Michigan Campus that offers students of all majors an opportunity to work on a full-scale production. Founded in 1996 by two engineers, Michael Newberry and Christopher Ritchie, Rude Mechanicals has been producing a staged theatre production each semester. We want our audience members to see something unique when they walk into a theatre, to be taken to another world. Rude Mechanicals offers you a chance to explore all aspects of theatre: acting, designing, lighting, costuming, scenic construction, marketing, run crew, and many more wonderful opportunities. Rudes strives to be an artistic outlet for everyone – regardless of your theatre experience.

Focus/Mission: The Prison Creative Arts Project (PCAP) includes undergraduate courses, exhibitions, publications, a prison reentry arts program, and events that reach thousands of individuals each year. We are a program of the Residential College, where our courses serve as gateways for undergraduate participation in prison arts workshops and provide academic training in issues surrounding incarceration and practical skills in the arts.

Focus/Mission: The DR’s Laboratory finds new territory for Black artists on and behind the stage and screen by innovating equitable processes and protocols that inform our development of authentic, Black productions. We advance Black liberation research to divest from prejudices within performance, discover new solutions to exploitation in entertainment, and develop new forms in film and fine arts.

Focus/Mission: A Chinese drama club focusing on performing modern Chinese dramas. We are a group of people who are passionate about learning and practicing performing skills and scriptwriting. Our primary goal is to promote communications among different cultures and especially to introduce an important part of chinese culture. The main activities of the club include basic performing skill learning and acting, and making a play or acting a existing play by students ourselves. We are going to hold a drama concert every semester. We welcome people from all levels of performing to learn and enjoy, and people who have special skills to express their talents.

Focus/Mission: The University of Michigan Gilbert and Sullivan Society (UMGASS) is delighted to welcome members from the University and from the larger Ann Arbor area to join our cast or crew, or to serve in directorial or production staff positions. As the oldest student-run society dedicated to producing the works of William Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan in the country, UMGASS has presented various operettas from the Gilbert and Sullivan canon for decades.
