Faculty support and involvement in the Student Fellowship and Scholarship Opportunities (SFSO) process is determined at the program level. Below is information about faculty support according to program.
Each Urban and Regional Planning student is assigned a faculty advisor. If for some reason you are not already in contact with your faculty advisor, their information can be found within your Student Center on Wolverine Access. Faculty advisors are great resources for assisting with things like thinking through your academic path and post-graduate plans based on your desired career goals and the impact you hope to have in your field. They can also provide mentorship and help you evaluate which types of scholarship and fellowship opportunities might be best for you. Beyond your specific faculty advisor, you are also encouraged to reach out to other faculty members and peers who might be able to provide you with valuable feedback and insight. The chair of the architecture SFSO faculty committee, has also offered to help support planning students as you evaluate and apply for opportunities when her availability and capacity allows.
There is a committee of faculty who evaluate student submissions for internally reviewed opportunities and also support students as they prepare application materials for scholarship and fellowship opportunities.
The architecture SFSO faculty committee is committed to the following:Â
Nomination: To evaluate student submissions and determine shortlists for opportunities reviewed internally
Mentorship: To be available to support student efforts to improve submissions and help provide editorial and design recommendations/support. Students can contact faculty mentors who are associated with specific opportunities for assistance and insight.
Outreach: To connect with students who may not know of an opportunity that would be a great fit for them
