Overview: Corporate Finance is a core course that addresses financial decisions relevant to managers of corporations. I start with the basic tools of finance, and then proceed to apply these basic tools to value the assets side of a firm’s balance sheet. Finally, I discuss financing issues, or the liability side of a firm’s balance sheet. The focus is on the analytic tools and methods of modern finance rather than on institutional issues.

Overview: FIN 300 Financial Management is designed to familiarize students with the basic tools and concepts of finance, and to enable students to pursue additional courses in investments, corporate finance, capital markets and financial institutions. Financial Management topics will include the time value of money, the valuation of riskless and risky assets, market efficiency, corporate investment decision making, capital structure decisions, and risk management. The course will cover theoretical concepts necessary to analyze complex financial decisions as well as examples and applications used in the industry.
