Stephen Wynn Studied Vocal Performance at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theater, and Dance, where he recieved his Master's degree in 2019. He has since been teaching in the Ann Arbor area, discovering new teaching methods along the way.
Stephen began singing at the age of 8, when he joined the Choir of Men and Boys of Christ Church, Greenwich, CT. over the following 20 years, he honed his musicianship and vocal technique, and has encountered most of the obstacles that a young singer may find on their journey to a better version of themselves. It is for this reason that his teaching makes such an impact on his students and helps them avoid bad vocal habits. Through hard work, discipline, and time, any singer that studies with Stephen can, and will succeed.
A standard Voice lesson is one hour long, and consists of three parts
-Stretching: In our modern culture, a prevailing lack of exercise, poor posture, and craining the neck to look more closely at computers, tablets, phones, etc... has resulted in a poor foundation for good singing. If the body is not properly aligned/relaxed, then good singing will be extremely dificult. The singer will go through several stretches, postural exercises, and breathing exercises in preperation for singing.
-Warmup: The singer is led through several vocal exercises to help strengthen and coordinate the voice. This process lasts about 20-25 minutes.
-Music: What we're here for! the singer, having properly set up their body and voice, gets to sing through their music.
