Hey! My name is Sovoya. I am a 28-year-old Black woman from Pontiac, MI. I am currently a PhD student at the University of Michigan. I love dogs, anime, video games, and taking naps.

My current research explores multimodality of African American Languages. My previous research explored linguistic blackface and popular music.

We celebrate Black language in all modalities ‘round here, all day err'day.
