I am a second-year PhD student in linguistics at the University of Michigan, working at the intersection of sociolinguistics, phonetics, linguistic anthropology, and language contact. My recent research examines language ideologies and emergent language contact within Ukrainian migrant communities in urban Poland. Additionally, I have examined linguistic discrimination within the United States public education system for African American English-speaking high school students from a sociophonetic lens. I apply the methods of critical discourse analysis of news corpus data, as well as sociolinguistic fieldwork and ethnography. My broader research interests include relationships between prosody and language ideology, news and media representations of migration, and Polish-Ukrainian language contact.
