Dr. Russell Pascual is a research fellow. She recently completed her PhD at the University of Exeter under the supervision of Dr. Teri Kirby and Dr. Christopher Begeny. Her dissertation included two projects. The first focused on the ways organisations frame their diversity policies and how these framings are perceived by ethnic minorities. The second focused on a widely used gender diversity initiative, lean in messages, and uncovered the insidious costs they have for the women they target: (1) creating pressure for women to conform to masculine norms, (2) hurting their interest in working for organisations that use them. She is now working as a research fellow investigating whether clarifying that gender microaggressions are due to gender stereotyping reduces the detrimental effects (e.g., impaired performance) of exposure to these microaggressions.
