If the Hotcrp video submission system is not working, please email your video as a Google Drive link (or other link)
to the organizers at safear-ismar@umich.edu.
Submission Deadline: Monday, July 29th, 2024, Anywhere on Earth
To be considered for this workshop, please prepare either a 2-page written statement (excluding bibliography and appendices) or a 3 minute video response addressing the following prompts:
What is a key security or privacy harm that you consider critical and/or challenging to address for a future AR ecosystem?
In your response, try to address a specific harm (e.g., bystander privacy) rather than security & privacy broadly.
Describe your vision or assumptions about this future AR ecosystem (e.g., common tasks and contexts for using AR).
How do you envision improving AR design and development practices to address this harm?
In your response, focus on 1-2 concrete solutions, ideally inspired by your own research or work experience.
Reflect on potential challenges or adverse implications of implementing this solution (e.g., challenges balancing AR usability with security & privacy needs).
We encourage all interested participants to submit a position statement or video. Space is guaranteed to anyone with an accepted submission, and at least one author is expected to attend in person.
Depending on room capacity, attendance may be possible even for those who do not have an accepted submission.
Submissions are due on Monday, July 29th, 2024 Anywhere-On-Earth.

Participants can decide if they would like their work to appear in the adjunct proceedings by selecting one of the following focuses:
Research style submission: If participants choose to have their work appear in the adjunct proceedings, these submissions will undergo a single-blind review process. Accepted papers may be included in the conference proceedings and archived in the IEEE Xplore digital library. The submission should be prepared in IEEE Computer Society VGTC format.
Statement style submission (position paper or video): If participants choose not to have their work appear in the adjunct proceedings, these submissions will follow a lightweight format and do not require anonymization.
Committee members will review submissions and select a diverse pool of participants (i.e., aiming for a balance of AR and security & privacy expertise, academic vs. industry backgrounds).
The organizers will review submissions and notify participants about decisions no later than August 8th, 2024.
Workshop attendees are invited to contribute to a report summarizing the discussions and guidelines proposed during the workshop. The organizers plan to publicly circulate this report as a resource to AR practitioners and security & privacy professionals.
