Hoda Katebi is a Chicago-based Iranian-American writer, abolitionist organizer, and creative educator. Her political fashion work has been hailed from the BBC to the New York Times to the pages of VOGUE and featured and cited in books, journals, and museums around the world. Hoda is the host of #BecauseWeveRead, a radical digital book club and discussion series with 20+ chapters globally; founding member of Blue Tin Production, an apparel manufacturing workers co-operative run by working class women of color; a national lead with Believers Bail Out, a bail fund using Zakat to bail Muslims from pretrial & immigration incarceration; and organizer with the No War Campaign. Hoda runs on saffron ice cream and colonizer tears.
Ankita is the star of the hit Netflix show, reality series "Indian Match Matchmaking". She is a powerful, independent modern woman who, in partnership with her sister Gayatri, runs a successful denim brand called THERE! A curious person since childhood, Ankita has wanted to keep learning more and has always kept herself open to the idea of change & new adventures. She is an avid reader of fiction novels, traveling to spaces away from crowded spots adds as a refuel to her energy and ideas. Ankita has spent her growing years and now adulthood in New Delhi and Gurgaon.
RANJEEV PURI is a member of the Michigan House of Representatives representing District 21. Ranjeev is the son of immigrants, and began his work joining President Barack Obama’s team in 2008 and 2012 and was personally challenged by the President to make a difference in his own community. Ranjeev received his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School Business, before moving back to Michigan and working in the automotive industry for nearly 10 years. Ranjeev worked on innovative and collaborative solutions preparing Michigan’s economy for self-driving cars, electric vehicles, eMobility and connected cars. Ranjeev is the first person of color to represent the 21st district, and the first Sikh-American in Michigan’s legislative history. Ranjeev is fighting for a more inclusive and better Michigan in which we can all be proud to call home, regardless of background or belief.
Suneel Gupta teaches innovation at Harvard University and is the author of the upcoming book, BACKABLE (Little Brown, 2021) – exploring how to get people to believe in your ideas. The book is rooted in Suneel’s journey from first-time entrepreneur to being named “The New Face of Innovation” by the New York Stock Exchange. Suneel’s ideas have been backed by firms like Greylock and Google Ventures, and he served as an Entrepreneur in Residence inside Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. He has personally backed startups including Impossible Foods, AirBnB, 23&Me, Calm, and SpaceX. In 2019, Suneel established the Gross National Happiness Center of America in partnership with the Kingdom of Bhutan.
Rukmini Vijayakumar, is the artistic director of Raadha Kalpa Dance Company, and the director of Lshva, a creative space for artists in the heart of Bangalore. She is the founder of The Raadha Kalpa method, an educational system for Bharatanatyam that is based on the idea of neutrality.
Rukmini’s approach to Bharatanatyam is dedicated, rigorous and layered. She has presented her work as a soloist all over the world, including venues such as the Jacobs Pillow festival, Drive East NYC, and the Korzo Theater. Recently she played ‘the goddess of love’ in ‘Sukanya’.
Shivani Bafna moved from the U.S. to Mumbai in 2018 to pursue a unique path as a TV host, model, actress, and influencer. She has interviewed 200+ celebrities from Shah Rukh Khan to Alia Bhatt, acted in TV commercials, and created viral social media content. Rather than just posting ‘perfect’ images of her experiences in Bollywood, Shivani uses social media to share her authentic journey navigating the industry. She has since moved back to the U.S. to pursue her entrepreneurial dream of founding Behind Every Dream. Her goals are to see more South Asian representation and mentorship in mainstream media, build a community that celebrates the process as much as the wins, and live life with purpose and intention.
