Taken in the Winter 2026 semester, my term project was exploring original applications of course material, for which I focused on Michigan TPED's 2026 Ride Engineering Competition project. I created a bond graph, mathematical model, and virtual model using MATLAB Simscape Multibody. More pictures are located in Themed Entertainment.
Taken in the Fall 2025 semester, myself and a team of three other mechanical engineering seniors designed a generator optimized for Wave Energy Converter applications, working with Professor Maha Haji and the Symbiotic Engineering and Analysis Lab as well as Triton Systems. We presented our final poster, models, and simulations at the UMich Mechanical Engineering Department's Design Expo in December 2025.
The goal of this course was to create a moving linkage to earn the maximum points on the game board by shining a flashlight at active targets defined by the board. Our team utilised the design process to design our ideal linkage and transmission, taking into consideration weight, range of motion, and torque requirements, and to build our model in CAD using Solidworks. We then manufactured our linkage using precision manufacturing techniques and the equipment in the undergraduate mechanical engineering machine shop. Finally, we added the electrical components to our linkage and tuned the PID controller in Arduino to earn our final score.
The goal of this course was to create a Robot Machine Player (RMP) for the purpose of working with other teams to score points as a section. Our team went through multiple design iterations and reviews where we presented theoretical analysis and empirical testing, before designing our RMP, creating a CAD model in Solidworks, and manufacturing the RMP using precision machining methods. At the final competition and design expo, the RMP was driven remotely by a team member.
