Out@SEAS was started in the Fall of 2020 as a way to facilitate community interaction and connection among the queer community of students, staff, and faculty within the School for Environment and Sustainability. Historically their events were about embracing queer joy and focused on small-scale community building. Eventually Out@SEAS became a sponsored student organization (SSO) at SEAS.
As of Fall 2025, the student leadership of Out@SEAS would like to build upon the foundational legacy of the organization, and broaden our horizons to engage in advocacy, provides critical updates and information on changes to relevant state and federal policies, highlights the scholarship of queer people at SEAS, nurtures resilience and support among the members of our community, and emphasizes queer joy as an act of resistance. Out@SEAS membership remains a casual organization open to all students, faculty, and staff within the SEAS community.
