Michigan Health Sciences Summer Institute

The Michigan Health Sciences Summer Institute (MHSSI) comprises three academies that expose learners to careers in the health sciences, foster leadership development, enhance academic skills, and prepare them for admission to medical school. Our goal is to encourage personal and professional growth in students throughout the academic pathway, from high school through college.

Undergraduate Research Academy (URA)

URA is designed to support sophomores, juniors, seniors, and recent graduates to gain hands-on, faculty-mentored research experiences. Participants will create a research poster and deliver an oral presentation at a hospital-wide research symposium at the end of the program.

Career Development Academy (CDA)

CDA is designed to provide juniors, seniors, or recent graduates (1-2 years) with intense preparation for the MCAT. Participants have access to a writing coach, tutors, MCAT prep (UWorld & Princeton Review) resources, AAMC practice exams, and more!
