The Black Graduate Student Association is organizing its second annual interdisciplinary Black Graduate Research Symposium from March 20th to March 22nd, 2025. This year’s symposium theme is Illuminating Our Black Joy: Protecting Pathways of Growth, Healing, and Academic Flourishing. This event aims to highlight and honor the scholarship of Black students on campus and the importance of making vibrant spaces to facilitate scholarship. A significant component of this event focuses on providing Graduate students on campus the opportunity to participate in academic workshops and engage in professional development through skill-building, networking, and presenting. The BGSA symposium is a low-stakes space for those interested in presenting their work in the form of poster sessions and oral presentations, as well as for those interested in facilitating workshops or panel discussions surrounding their personal topics of interest or related in general to academic development. [Day 1, Thurs, March 20th]: On the first day of the symposium, a networking workshop with undergrads, graduate students, and faculty with film is screening related to our theme of black joy in academia. [Day 2, Fri March 21st]: On the second day of the symposium, there will be workshops, roundtable discussions, and more networking opportunities. [Day 3, Sat March 22nd]: On the third and final day of the symposium, students will give poster and oral-based presentations on their research, and the event will conclude with a keynote speech.
