Michigan Innovations in Addiction Care
through Research & Education
Welcome to MI-ACRE! We're a team of University of Michigan addiction researchers and clinicians focused on embracing cutting-edge research and innovative evidence-based practices to drive continuous improvement in addiction prevention, care, training and education. MI-ACRE is part of the University of Michigan Addiction Center in the Department of Psychiatry at Michigan Medicine.
MI-ACRE Co-Director's Dr. Lara Coughlin and Dr. Allison Lin's newest publication in the American Journal of Psychiatry shows veterans who received incentives to stay in recovery from stimulants like meth & cocaine had a 41% lower risk of death from all causes compared to those who didn’t.
“This is the strongest real-world evidence to date that contingency management care for people with stimulant use disorder is linked to a significant drop in deaths. It shows the importance of the VA’s leadership in making CM available to veterans." ~Dr. Coughlin
