I am currently an PhD Pre-Candidate in the Department of Industrial and Operations Engineering at the University of Michigan and my academic advisor is Dr. Judy Jin. I have the Rackham Merit Fellowship as well as the Gates Millennium Scholarship here. Additionally, I obtained my bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering at Texas A&M University with a minor in Math back in 2016.
My interests are statistics and optimization when applied to data analytics. Currently the focus of my research is tied to the topic of change point detection--trying to capture when important changes happen in a data set. I am current applying this type of analysis to distracted driving data sets with the hope that I can distinguish distracted behaviors from so called "normal" behaviors. This entails (but is not limited to) feature selection, pattern recognition, and statistical classification techniques such as hypothesis testing or machine learning. One challenge I am currently undertaking is determining what types of distance/similarity metrics best fit the challenge at hand. Change point detection is interesting to me because it is generally applicable to data sets everywhere, and if I can discover some methodology able to solve current real world problems, I will be happy.
