Welcome to the Lorberbaum Lab

Exploring cell signaling and transcription factors regulating pancreas development and function in health and disease

The Lorberbaum lab was established in April 2023 at the University of Michigan Medical School in the Department of Pharmacology and Caswell Diabetes Institute. We are located on the 6th floor of the Brehm Center for Diabetes Research.

We are hiring! Please email if you are interested in our work!

Our research focuses on:

  - cell signaling pathways in development, maintenance, and disease

  - islet function in health and Diabetes

  - cis-regulatory control of gene expression

  - pancreatic endocrine progenitor cell specification

Tools and models available:

  - genetically modified mice

  - human pluripotent stem cells

  - human and mouse immortalized cell lines (HEK293T, Min6, AlphaTC)

  - organoids (mice and human derived)

Mouse Islet, beta cells are red, delta cells are green
