I am a senior fellow at the University of Michigan Duderstadt Center's Digital Media Commons. Working mostly in the Fabrication Lab, I am trained to help students and staff use all the fabrication resources there. I maintain our equipment such as the 3D printers, CNC machines, 3D scanner, laser engraver, electronics workbench, and woodworking station. I also help run the University of Michigan's 3D Printing Service for Research. In the Summer of 2024, I developed and hosted a workshop for the 3D printing and mesh editing software, Meshmixer.
As part of my fellowship, I designed and ran a workshop titled "Autodesk Meshmixer for Your 3D Printing Needs". In it, I walk the audience through all the 3D printing relevant tools that Autodesk Meshmixer has using this festive Baby Yoda (Grogu) model. In live time, the audience and I fix, edit, sculpt, and amend the model step-by-step. The end product is a personalized ornament that the audience can 3D print. I had a lot of fun preparing and presenting this workshop for over 80 audience members across multiple sessions.
I only present the first five and last two slides. The rest, I present in the Meshmixer program and share my screen, so the audience can follow along.
