Intimate Partner Violence (IPV), also known as domestic violence (DV), is a significant public health crisis affecting millions across the U.S. While much research has been done on IPV, there is a notable silence in literature on recovery processes. Additionally, existing studies are often highly technical and overlook personal experiences. Moreover, few studies explore how environmental factors shape vulnerability and resilience or interrogate the underlying logics of gender-based violent geographies.
To address these silences, my work centers the voices of IPV survivors. Healing from IPV is a complex, nonlinear journey that depends on material support from diverse environments. By collecting personal stories of healing and recovery, I aim to illuminate the landscapes of violence and resilience woven into our everyday lives. Through this approach, my research seeks to challenge existing narratives and inform more inclusive urban policies.
