This series of successful conferences began in 1978 in Paris, France, and in recent years, has taken place in Flagstaff, USA in 2014, Montpellier, France in 2016, Shanghai, China in 2018, Puerto de Vallarta, Mexico (virtual conference) in 2021, Sheffield, United Kingdom in 2022, and recently Matsue, Japan in 2024.

The 24th International Conference on Molecular Beam Epitaxy (ICMBE 2026) provides a prominent international forum for reporting new developments in the areas of fundamental and applied molecular beam epitaxy research, including advances in the technique, synthesis of new materials, discovery of new physical properties, formation of novel heterostructures and nanostructures, and the development of innovative devices.
