Teaching

I taught Math 115 (Calculus I) in Fall 2021 and Spring 2022. While teaching, I made a few worksheets for inquiry-based learning; these are linked below in case others find them helpful.

1) Introduction to Integrals [link]

This worksheet introduces students to integrals by building up from integrals of step functions.

2) Fundamental Theorem of Calculus [link]

This worksheet shows students how to interpret integrals in terms of total change.

Qualifying Exams

For resources on the qualifying exams, please see Katie Waddle's excellent collection.

I passed the two Algebra exams, the Differential Topology exam, and the Complex analysis exam, and coursed out of the other two. Here's something that helped me with exam anxiety: before the exam, make a list or word cloud of common problem-solving techniques (such as using retractions/inclusions in topology, or approximating via simple functions in real analysis), and memorize it. During the exam, if you get stuck on a problem, take a deep breath and run through your list.
