Predoctoral Genetics Training Program (GTP)
Predoctoral Genetics Training Program (GTP)
The Michigan Predoctoral Training Program in Genetics (GTP) prepares investigators to combine disciplinary expertise with new research opportunities of the genomic era.
As one of the oldest National Institutes of Health (NIH)-supported training programs, the GTP continues to be a vital component of graduate education in biomedical research at the University of Michigan.
The Genetics Training Program (GTP) is an interdisciplinary program that provides enriched genetics education for students working towards their PhD degrees in six departments:
Ongoing research projects range from microbial and viral gene regulation to yeast, plant, fly, mouse and human genetics, and functional genomics. Trainees benefit from a University environment that is strongly oriented towards graduate education, with a large and interactive research community that is among the top ten in NIH funding. Our graduate students have gone on to productive research careers in academia, government, and industry.
