From the beginning of my time abroad, diving into the connective tissue structure and system, I saw that I was not only interested in the detail of fascia's anatomical relevance to dance. I recognized that fascia means more than the body. It means connections in general. I began looking at the applications to the social body. How do we as individuals act and function within groups or society? How does dependence and independence affect the framework of learning and performing dance? How does the natural rebound from solitary life to social life, or bonds built between individuals look in movement?
This concept of the social will definitely inspire parts of my further research and thesis, though I am still in the beginning stages of developing my arguments. The network of information, gathered from the many experiences within my summer research, is also yet to be explored on a deeper level. How will all of this information, together, be combined to develop new thoughts on dance pedagogy?
Like life and dance, for now, I continue to keep putting one foot in front of the other and make progress.
