During my senior year at the University of Michigan, I spent quite a bit of time imagining what my “post-grad” life would look like. I would be moving to New York City, a place that fosters both social and professional growth. 

So why was I anxious?

I took to TikTok (like any good Gen Z woman) in search of a Jewish prayer for inner peace. I was raised to embrace my Jewish identity. Yet, I wouldn’t describe myself as religious. I stumbled upon the lengthy Birchot Hashachar. I was overwhelmed, so I chose a line that resonated with me the most. The recitation would soon ground me.

Creating this book has expanded my repertoire of Jewish prayers and I intend to return to it as a reader.
