The University of Michigan Department of Biostatistics invites you to a two-day symposium honoring Professor Mike Boehnke’s extraordinary contributions to statistical genetics and genomics and the enduring impact of his scholarly leadership.
Over the course of his career, the field of statistical genetics has evolved from linkage studies to genome-wide association analyses, large-scale sequencing, and integrative genomic discovery. This symposium reflects that arc — highlighting the scientific foundations Mike helped establish and the innovations that continue to shape the discipline.
Across May 14–15, 2026, presentations from Mike’s former graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and long-time collaborators will showcase research that builds upon and extends his work. The program will feature keynote lectures, scientific sessions, and reflections from Mike himself.
Registration is free, but required, for all attendees.
This gathering marks a significant milestone in Mike’s career and celebrates a living legacy: generations of researchers advancing statistical genetics and genomics into its next era.
The symposium coincides with Professor Boehnke’s 70th birthday and his transition into retirement, offering an opportunity to recognize both a remarkable career and its continuing influence.
