UM Joint PhD Program in Social Work and Anthropology
Curtis Center Pre-Doctoral Fellow of Health Disparity in Psycho-Oncology
Nina Jackson Levin (she/her) is a doctoral candidate in the Joint PhD Program in Social Work and Anthropology. Jackson Levin received her Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Literature in 2013 and her Master of Social Work in 2016 from the University of Michigan. Her dissertation explores family making and reproductive health care among adolescents and young adults with cancer whose fertility is affected by treatment. In particular, she is interested in health disparities among AYAs from diverse and marginalized backgrounds, especially sexual and gender minority patients seeking reproductive health and fertility preservation services during cancer. Jackson Levin uses multimedia ethnographic methods to better understand young people's experiences of cancer in order to improve upon service delivery and health care for marginalized patients.
Additionally, Nina is a T-32 pre-doctoral fellow funded by the National Cancer Institute.
