Amplitude Summer School

Amplitudes 2020

at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor

May 5-9, 2020

Updated April 14, 2020

We are looking into options for holding the summer school online via Zoom in the summer (but not at the originally schedule dates). Stay tuned.

Meanwhile, Amplitudes 2020 will take place online via Zoom at the original dates, May 11-15, 2020. Follow this link to Zoomplitudes 2020 at Brown U.

--------------------

In connection to Amplitudes 2020, we are hosting a summer school on scattering amplitudes. The subjects of the school cover a variety of modern subjects on the forefront of the field. Students are expected to know on-shell amplitudes-basics (such as 4d spinor helicity methods, BCFW recursion, Parke-Taylor formula for gluon tree amplitudes, symmetries and Ward identities), since there will not be lectures on these fundamentals. See below from some suggested readings.

There is no registration fee for the school. Participants have to arrange and pay for their own travel and accommodation (see here for some hotel options). Coffee breaks with snacks and lunches will be provided. In exceptional cases, we may be able to help with financial support. Students apply to the summer school usin the registration link. Further info are at the top of the page. Applications received by March 15 will get primary consideration.

Confirmed speakers:

  • Nima Arkani-Hamed (IAS): new directions
  • Freddy Cachazo (Perimeter Institute): scattering equations
  • JJ Carrasco (Northwestern): double copy
  • Callum Jones (Michigan): EFTs and amplitudes
  • Mikhael Solon (UCLA): Amplitudes & LIGO
  • Jaroslav Trnka (UC Davis): amplitudes and geometry
  • Anastasia Volovich (Brown): cluster algebras & amplitudes

A few suggested references for pre-studying on amplitudes fundamentals:

An Amplitudes Summer School was held at UC Davis in 2018 in connection to Amplitudes 2018.

Support for Amplitudes 2020 comes from The Department of Energy and the Leinweber Center for for Theoretical Physics.
