To fully participate in this study, you need to install two applications: WTA-ESM and ActivityWatch.
WTA-ESM delivers daily surveys about your waiting time activities.
Only responses to the survey questions and timestamps of completing the surveys will be collected.
No personal information, e.g., name, email, or address, will be collected.
No sensor data, e.g., location, will be collected.
The first time you run the application, a data file will be created in your phone's storage with your permission.
All the responses input by you will be stored in the data file locally.
Neither the developer nor any third parties have access to the data file unless manually shared by you.
Before sharing the data file, you can read and edit it.
The surveys are the essential part of this study and cannot be opt-out. However, without WTA-ESM, it is still possible to report your waiting time activities by completing online surveys repeatedly. In that case, you need to save survey links somewhere handy, and an internet connection is required whenever you would like to report your activity. Your data will be stored on Qualtrics UMD's servers.
ActivityWatch tracks your app usage.
App usage (the starting time, duration, application name, and window title of each active application) will be collected.
Browsing history (the starting time, duration, URL, and title of each active webpage) will be collected.
The text, image, or video within a file or webpage will not be collected.
No personal information, e.g., name, email, or address, will be collected.
No sensor data, e.g., location, will be collected.
All the data will be stored locally on your devices.
Neither the developer nor any third parties have access to the data file unless manually shared by you.
Before sharing the data file, you can read and edit it.
You can choose to not participate in this part of the study. In that case, you won't receive the corresponding $30 reward, though.
