We are a group of graduate students from the University of Maryland, College Park, advocating for evidence-based decision-making in public affairs and governance.
We help UMD students to explore career pathways in Science Policy
Zihan is a Ph.D. student in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences. His research focuses on turbulent mixing in the upper ocean, with the goal of improving nesting techniques in ocean models to better represent turbulent processes across different scales. He is passionate about climate and energy policies.
Sheila is a fourth-year PhD student in Geographical Sciences applying satellite Earth Observation to monitor agricultural production in difficult-to-access locations. She feels lucky to work in a field of science that already aligns closely with policy decisions on agriculture, food supply, and markets.
Adira is a fifth-year Ph.D. student in Mechanical Engineering. For her research, she develops 3D-printed biomedical devices on the micro/nanoscale, specifically 3D printing glass microneedles. Her policy interests include biotechnology policy and supporting diversity and global talent in STEM.
