Succesful applicants of the impact fellowship should:
be a UMD postdoc working in environmental and/or human health and related fields. Postdoc applicants may already work with one of the PBH-affiliated faculty but this is not a requirement for application. (Graduate students accepted in exceptional cases. Contact us to discuss your case.)
have existing research data and/or insights that are relevant for societal stakeholders such as policy makers, advocacy groups, the general public, or other groups of interest.
be available for in-person activities during the 2026-2027 program period.
be able to allocate the required time to attend program activities (workshops, bi-weekly cohort meetings, PBH seminars), and co-organize the spring symposium
Submit your application via this online form by October, 23, 2026. An application requires the following items:
A short CV (maximum 2 pages), detailing your educational and professional background, focusing on relevant experience for this fellowship, and up to 4 publications most relevant to your proposed impact project.
Personal statement describing your relevant professional expertise, preparedness for the program, and motivation for participation. (Maximum of 1400 characters with spaces included.)
Description of the capstone impact project you plan to develop during this program. In your response, explain the challenge you want to address, the research finding or professional insight you want to turn into an impact-driven solution, and how the program training helps you achieve that goal. (Maximum of 2800 characters with spaces included.)
In addition, a supervisor support letter is required (1 page preferred, 2 page maximum). The letter should be uploaded to this online form by October 23, 2026:
